What is CleanYourTV?+
CleanYourTV is an open-source project by Gathin23 for supported Android TV and Google TV devices. Its computer workflow uses ADB over the local network to back up settings, disable selected packages and install a minimal launcher.
Which file do I download for my Android phone?+
The community Android phone app is published by udhaykumarbala. Download its APK from the download centre and install it on your phone. It is separate from the launcher installed on the TV. The documented phone requirement is Android 9 or newer with a screen lock.
Is there a ready-made TV launcher APK here?+
No. The upstream launcher release is source-only, and this site has not published its own signed TV APK. You can download the pinned launcher source and use the upstream build-and-install workflow.
Does the model lookup prove my TV is compatible?+
No. A search result means the exact model or a related term appears in the pinned upstream community table. It is not certification or a test by this site. Review the system, regional firmware and original device notes before changing anything.
Do I need a computer?+
The upstream computer workflow requires a computer and coding assistant with shell access. The community Android phone app offers a separate route for supported Android TV and Google TV devices without a laptop. Check the app’s current requirements first.
Will downloading a file change my TV?+
No. Downloads on this site only retrieve files or open the source provider. Installation and changes happen later on your own devices, after the connection and authorization steps.
Will this clean the physical screen?+
No. CleanYourTV is a software project for removing unwanted home-screen clutter and disabling selected preinstalled packages. It does not clean a physical TV screen.
Does it remove ads inside YouTube or streaming apps?+
No. It targets supported manufacturer advertising, recommendations and preinstalled packages. Ads served inside streaming apps are a separate issue.
Do I need to root my TV?+
The upstream workflow uses Android Debug Bridge (ADB), without rooting. You still need developer options, local network access and approval on the TV.
Can I undo the changes?+
Upstream provides backup and restore tools. Keep the backup created for your own TV and review the recovery guide before changing anything.
Does it work on Samsung, LG and Roku?+
The main Android workflow does not apply to Tizen, webOS or Roku OS. A brand name alone is not enough: check the operating system and exact model.
Is this the official CleanYourTV website?+
No. This is an independent guide and model lookup. The official website is cleanyour.tv and the original repository is Gathin23/cleanyourtv on GitHub.
